Bobby Mair is a disturbingly exciting new comedian, currently gracing our screens in the
new season of Channel 4’s ‘8 out of 10 Cats’. Canadian born and based in London, bobby is touring his material internationally and is fresh out of the ‘Just for Laughs’ festival.
Driven by a natural flare for comedy, Bobby enrolled at Toronto’s Humber College on their
Comedy Writing and Performance Program, it was 2005 and a star was born! – he dropped out before the year end. Feeling like the course was“too slow” to understand his passion for the darker side of humour, he confidently took himself straight out to the live circuit and didn’t look back.
Sean honed his unique storytelling style over 20 years. In 2000, his hard work and determination led to his receiving two prestigious Canadian Comedy Award nominations for 'Best Male Stand Up' & for his half-hour 'Comic's Comedy Special' on CBC.
In 2002, CTV gave Sean his first hour-long television special as part of their 'Comedy Now' series and, building on this momentum, he performed a
gala set at the Just For Laughs Festival, Montreal in 2003.
With the desire to play to a more universal audience, Sean left Canada for the UK and, within the five years that Sean has resided in Britain, he has written and performed 3 highly successful Edinburgh Festival shows, receiving rare five-star reviews and one of only a few Best of Fest accolades.
Now a headline act firmly established on the UK circuit, Sean has several television credits to his name, including The World Stands Up Special on Comedy Central, The Comedy Store Television Show on Paramount for 2005, 2006 and 2008, and 2010, the second series of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow on BBC1.
Simon Munnery, also known by his stagenames of Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium, is an English comedy writer and experimental standup comedian. He performs mainly to an alternative audience but has pierced the mainstream both with his BBC Radio 1 show in 1997 and his BBC2 television series, Attention Scum! in 2001.
Munnery's experimental style is reified through his sartorial appearance: his tragically unfashionable glasses, homemade clothes (or clothes apparently donated to him by comedian Jeff Green), makeshift props, and dramatic facial hair. As 'The League' he often dons a hat crafted from a kettle and one of his standup shows is performed entirely with a metal bucket over his head.
His standup is perhaps best described as often satirical, often political and almost always surreal. Munnery plays harmonica and his dialogue is full of quotable remarks, inviting comparison with Oscar Wilde, ("If you've only ever read one book in your life... I strongly recommend that you keep your mouth shut").

This course is relevant for anyone and will provide tools, and an approach to life that can help all of us appreciate positive experiences more, and also manage challenging experiences such as such as stress, anxiety, and low moods. Many people have also reported finding mindfulness very helpful in both their personal relationships and work roles. Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been used for over 30 years as a program to help people manage the stress of chronic pain and extreme health conditions. Significantly, MBSR has now been shown to reduce stress in healthy people too, and it is used widely around the world now for the general public and in workplace settings. In controlled trials it has also been shown to reduce anxiety. In fact, one study has shown MBSR can reduce anxiety by 70%.

Chalk Gallery Feature Artists - Janice Thurston - Walk my Downland Ways 10:00 - 17:00 Exhibition: 15th April to 5th May
A marriage of the arts - painting and poetry.
Sue Bartlett, inspired by Janice Thurston's paintings, has written a poem that transports you on a walk through Downland ways.
Janice's work is an emotional and personal response to landscape. Currently, it focuses on the countryside around Ditchling Beacon, an area of ancient histories, wildness and human traces fashioned by agriculture. I am interested in the sublime vastness of big spaces; the transformations that are relentlessly taking place as the seasons evolve and the colours alter. The shifting light and its effect on the shape and form of the contours of the land produce semi-abstract patterns in the landscape, and these also hold a fascination.
Sue is a member of the Rottingdean Writers Group.

Bluebell Paintings
Lyndsey Dangerfield is young, energetic and full of enthusiasm and so are her paintings. Flowers fill her canvases with a pallet of colour you capture in a garden on a summers day. They might look spontaneous but they are carefully placed, adding depth, light and texture, allowing your eye to wonder while your mind identifies.
"Bluebell woods are magical, they transform the bland lifeless winter woodland scene with carpets of blue petals and enchanting scents - an enchanting picture of english spring-time. The best bluebell woods are those that you accidentally stumble upon. I tried to capture the mood of the woodland - whether creating a morning haze or strong afternoon shadows, varying my colour palette and brushstrokes but always trying to create a balanced composition"

Lewes Saturday Folk Club 20:00 - 23:00 The Lewes Saturday Folk Club has a friendly, informal atmosphere, no stage and no microphones. Although it's called a club for historic reasons, there are no membership fees or cards. We meet every Saturday night, only stopping for Christmas or Bonfire.
We mostly book performers of British traditional music, but we enjoy other styles as well. We like any member of the audience who wants to sing or play to have a turn, so have a couple of songs or tunes ready if you'd enjoy performing (but don't feel you've got to if you don't want to). We usually start off with a few dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
The guest performer usually does two forty-five minute spots, the first beginning at about 8.45p.m. and the second at 10.15 p.m. The rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience. You'll find a list of forthcoming guests with links to their websites or MySpace pages on the club's own website.
Song & instrument workshops
About eighteen times a year we book top-quality musicians to hold a vocal or instrument workshop in the day and give an evening performance in the club.
Theme evenings
We also run theme evenings from time to time, with no guest performer. They are often connected with the season and whenever possible we serve traditional seasonal food at them, such as Twelfth Cake on our wassail evening, Easter biscuits, soul cakes at Halloween and home-made bread and cheese at harvest.
Tunes sessions
Another regular event is a tunes session led by an individual player. Everyone is welcome to bring an instrument and join in;
we mostly play English dance tunes.
Singers are welcome too, as usual.
Admission & loyalty card
We charge in the range of £3-£12 for admission, depending on the guest performer (see our website for charges). All money taken goes to the guest & pays our rent. Our advertising costs are covered by a weekly raffle. Six visits marked on your loyalty card earn you £5 off a night when entrance is £5 or more.
