Do the residents of Southover High street realise that on Sunday's the road is still a ROAD. It doesn't suddenly turn into a car park.
So this means it is not acceptable to park in a line of about 20 cars with no give way gaps. It is not hard to use one of the side streets as you manage to do during the week when parking attendants are in force.
However if you feel it is necessary to continue to park like this then I apologise in advance for knocking off your wing mirror and due to there being no stopping gaps I would be unable to leave my details inevitably footing you with the repair bill.

Maybe it's visitors to the town using our street as a car park? Also, we've lost half of the parking spaces on Priory street due to the temporary gas repair works.

Problem always seems to be exacerbated by the God botherers in the morning. Shame God no longer seems to grant anyone the willpower to walk to church these days.

I struggle with driving to my own house on Cleve Terrace sometimes. I have a medium size van and due to the selfish idiots who use Southover High St. as a free for all on a Sunday I'm finding it difficult to make the turn down Potters lane. I'm just hoping that a fire engine doesn't need urgent access at the weekend...........

The selfish Sunday parking is usually down to latecomers for the church service, occasionally a wedding at the Anne of Cleeves Museum. The County Council is the highways authority and yellow lines are down to them. Southover residents, tired of the weekly bust-ups in the street, asked for double yellow lines at the recent review, but the ESCC did nothing. The car owners at divine service are probably unaware of the problem they have caused.

Don't the church have the use of the school for parking on a Sunday?
Why not give the office a ring on 470616 and ask them to bring the
problem to the attention of the congregation via the weekly notice sheet?

It's not just the church. The stretch between the Swan mini-roundabout and the St Pancras Road junction often has a whole line of cars blocking the pavement. They turn up on a Saturday evening and are there all day Sunday. To be honest, they look like residents' vehicles.

Southover is such a great church that Christians come from far and wide. Appreciate your assets. Maybe even try a visit?
