Back to foxes. About now is when I fear for our chickens. The foxes are not at all shy and are starting to teach their young to hunt. If they get my chickens it will be my fault though, not the fault of the foxes. Likewise if our native predator (and until recently severely-threatened) buzzard takes out a few of the landowners pheasants it's not the fault of the buzzard but the landowner for not protecting his overly-concentrated numbers of imported game birds.
Seen any otters round here yet? Perhaps we should hunt them too as they take the grossly overfed carp from the commercial fisheries.

The only reason most domestic cats play with small animals rather than killing them is that because we feed them, they have no need to hunt for food so never learn to kill things. They have all the hunting skills but lack the killer instinct. Sticking a bell on them is rather counter-productive too as it just makes them better hunters to make-up for the warning the bell gives their prey. Keeping your cat entertained at home will go some way towards stopping it decimating the local bird and rodent population but every cat is essentially an apex predator in our ecosystem and will be out killing things most of the time they're not at home asleep.
