    @Puzzled, the costumes are all made (and therefore paid for) by the people that wear them, so the hours put into the beading and feathers, sequins and all other finery is done by the individuals, so well done to them for creating such beautiful costumes!

If that makes me a prat then so be it. The point I was trying to make, is that if you wish to participate / process in Bonfire events do it as a member of a Bonfire Society. Going off and setting up splinter ‘walking societies’ does not do anybody any favours in the long run. All that does is dilute the membership of other societies, which in turn puts extra burden on the remaining members. There are numerous bonfire societies that are crying out for members. What makes the members of Phoenix so special that they feel it is beneath them to belong to one of these societies? I do not see the need, or the point of, a ‘walking society’.
