 Tesco's Law

We were at the self-checkout and I was told I could not buy the beer (amongst other items) as my son was under-age. I was told "it's the law" and "How do we know he's your son?". What on earth is going on? I can go to a pub with my children and buy myself a pint but not apparently Tesco's.

    Aldi, by contrast, has a reputation for treating its employees well, undercuts Tescos by a considerable margin and is a far nicer environment. I divide my allegiance between Aldi and Waitrose where the meat is good quality (if expensive!) but is sourced fairly. I also like the atmosphere in there - the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and actually seem to care.
