Question is, is there any point in reporting this to the police? No idea what car he was in, etc. Just verbal assault.

I watched a Hells Angel do exactly that once on a dual carriageway after a small van pulled out in front of him. He overtook him and then pulled out a very realistic looking hand gun. Change of shorts time for the van man.

If some one overtakes me there and there is no one waiting to come out from the turning, I cancel my indicator and carry straight on.

I think that driving too slowly is also a cause of accidents. People get so pious about speed, but there's no reason why anyone should drive under 50mph on a long, straight uncongested 'A' road, when the signs indicate the national spped limit. Of course, some people who overtake are dangerous, impatient idiots, but if I'm on a six-mile stretch of road, stuck behind someone doing 35mph, I will overtake if I can do it safely and if they suddenly accelerate because I've offended them, they are guilty of dangerous driving.
The worst cases are people who drive really slowly or erratically, going from 40 to 60, then back down to 40 again. When I finally drive past, I usually find that they're talking on their mobile!
