Please be aware of traffic etc when wearing ear phones, chatting on mobiles. Today in Court Road,I saw a young man VERY narrowly coming to grief. The driver was so shocked, he caught him up and remonstrated with him.I have witnessed myself, youngsters just crossing oblivious to cars etc. Please parents, have a word.

I too have experienced people with headphones completely unaware of the danger they cause & sadly it is not just young people. Many cyclists are guilty of this plus Ive seen responsible looking adults cause many a hazard stepping off kerbs etc. they dont even hear exhasperated motorists horns & just walk on oblivious of any distress they've caused. Using mobiles & earphones (or at least wearing two) should be banned while crossing roads & cycling as well as whilst driving. Unfortuntely as usual it will take many serious accidents before anything is done.

Headphones should be banned next to roads, only yesterday I saw a youngster in the middle of Lewes almost run down by an old aged pensioner driving along the footpath in the High street on her mobility scooter whilst listening to music on her headphones, She had the music up so loud I could hear it as she wizzed past me, something about a bat coming out of hell

We actually heard only today of someone run over on Wednesday in Brighton. The van went over his foot and his shoulder took out the wing mirror. He was quite stunned and in shock, but still walked back to work where he nearly fainted, an Ambulance was called and later in A & E his foot was declared broken and, yes he was wearing headphones. Adrenalin kicked in he should never have walked back to work !! We wish him well.

Mary I realize it was light hearted intended but, I know of no scooter rider in Lewes being so irresponsible!

There's a couple of pensioners around town with carts that go a lot faster than permitted on pavements and pedestrian areas .
But also mobility carts should give way to public as do cars in pedestrian areas
