    Hi,
My mind has gone blank and I can't think of a place to eat Saturday lunchtime where we can get decent food, good wine and a good atmosphere. Any suggestions? Don't want anywhere too dull! Thanks

Sophie Ellis-Baxters Pa is running a super foodies place in Alfriston, called Moonrakers (I am so old I remember Elaine and Barry, she was a great cook), nice garden overlooking The Tye and Cuckmere Valley, if not, Terre et Terre (excuse spelling) in Brighton is also great. Hope this helps. PB

Step out along the A27 and there's the Ram at Firle, The Rose cottage at Alciston and, further along, the Giants Rest at Wilmington (take a walk to the church to see the yew tree)

The Yew Tree Inn at Chalvington became pretty much my favourite Sussex Country Pub after only one visit. Just wish it was located by the river in Barcombe, in place of the horrible Anchor Inn.

I see Silletts Cottage is for sale, as a house now! What is The Hungry Monk like now? They invented Bannoffi Pie I recall. Been celebrating being asked to be Godfather to my friend's sprog, so forgive any spelling mistakes my friends. Brest Peter x/

The Hungry Monk is no more I'm afraid. I think it has been turned into holiday homes.
