Yesterday there was an incedent in malling concerning a dog runing lose and attacking another dog totally unprovoked, it was i am told a terrible shock to the owners of the dog attacked and also the 6yr old with them, it all happened on the green opp Bridgewick Close where lots of children were playing and they all witnessed this, there was a lot of screaming and the 6yr old was very trumatised !
Apparently the owner of the dog running lose who have recently moved to malling was verbaly agresive too and not bothered by what his dog had done, which was then still running lose in malling, he wasn't concerned about the poor dog that had been attacked and was needing medical attention at the vets.
Police were called and the Dog Wardern for Lewes District informed, what is going on these days as we hear a lot more about dog attacks ie; elderly dogs, guide dogs etc and children even adults, my worry is does this dog does come under the dangerous dog act ? I was told it was a massive very muscular mastif type dog, it doesn't bear thinking about if it was a child out there playing on the green that got attacked, would the owner have been so aggresive and abusive then ?
There are so many dog owners out there who dont keep their dogs under control, i know there are the dog owners that do and i think they dont need the bad press due to these people who seem to think its ok for their dog to be a danger to others.
I hope the owners of this dog are pulled up and if it does come under the Act then appropriate mesaures taken !

    Dear Dog Lover,
Were any people / children hurt?
    Is the attacked dog ok?
    Did the police attend?
if so did they speak to the owner?
if not, is the owner is still walking round with a dog he appears failing to control..?
Has the dog warden acted ?

The owners are to blame, all dogs are fine with control and training, much harder to control and train idiots. Peter

Padster i think most of your questions were answered in the 1st post above you and no children were hurt thank goodness just very trumatised, the attacked dog is ok after recieving treatment for its wounds at the vets and by all accounts was very lucky indeed.
Police were im told in atendance and round to the owners house, as has the dog wardern for Lewes District Council, what the outcome is i have no idea.
I have seen the dog in question, outside at Tesco's being held by i persumme the owner, it was pointed out to me by my friend who witnessed the attack and i have to say its flipping massive, very musclar and jaws to match i couldnt believe anyone would want a dog of that size as a household pet if you have young children.
Peter you are right that unruley dogs are down to bad owners that cant be bothered to train their dogs and have control.
I just hope we dont hear any more on this dog and that the owners are under the Warderns eye now !

    Thank you dog lover,
sorry to appear pedantic but my questions were as a direct result of your 1st post and none were answered.
I asked if any children were hurt? your 1st post says there was screaming and children were traumatised , not mention if any physical harm , this was my question.
I asked if the attacked dog was OK? your first post only mentions it was hurt and in need of attention.
I asked if the police attended, your post only mentions they were called.
I asked if the owner was walking around with this dog , you make no comment of this in your first post or what if any the action of the dog warden.
So to be fair to myself , you had answered none of the questions in my first post.
I say this as i try not to be lazy and waste people's time, i read your post with keen interest and took note of it's contents.
I shall look out for this dog in the future.
    regards.
