Just thought i would post a note to say that i had a set of wheels and tyres and an old battery stolen from my driveway today. Fortunately they weren't much use to me and my wife is glad to be rid of them, but they might steal something more desirable from your front garden if its not bolted down. I am in Nevill, but i don't suppose estate boundaries will be of any interest to the thieves. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

There's often vans driving around the estate looking for scrap metal. A guy took some from my drive a couple of weeks ago, though he did ask, I wonder if he would have had I not been around. A lot of you are obviously not around during the day weekdays, so be warned. There is not often a day goes by without a couple of vans on the prowl!

'Terrified Resident'. It's this sort of hype that makes people think they're living in 1930s Chicago when in fact crime has been falling. I think people watch too much stuff on the tele and think that's what's happeing in their lives. Calm down.

Yer last year somebody stole a copper hotwater tank from my back garden. It's a annoying as I was meaning to take it to the scrapyard, but also worrying that people are prowling around back gardens.

Increases in scrap metal theft are generally a sign that there are a new batch of Pikeys in the area. Once manhole covers and drains start going missing then it's confirmed.

Daily mail reader. Are you aware that the term "Pikey" is banned under the race relations act and is classed as rascist ?

However, the term filthy theiving scum c**ts is not a rascist term and you're allowed to use that one.

Actually, since the nonsense about Firle Bonfire Society, Pikey is the official legal term for travellers since the courts found it to not be racist and it passed into official case law. Being a Pikey is a lifestyle choice, not something you're born with and therefore is not a racist term, any more than calling a policeman a pig or a LDC planning department employee a retard.

Im afraid you're so so wrond DM reader. I hate the theiving tw@s as much as the next man but believe me, gypsies and Irish travellers are a race and you are born into it. I can promise you that Pikey is NOT an official legal term and if you use it in front of a Police officer, it is an arrestable offence under the race relations act.

I beg to diifer Cop, it's the REPORTING of low level crime that has dropped not crime it self. No point in bothering plod about stuff like this as they don't give a f.uck, and even if they did what are the chances of them actually catching the toe rags.
Keep 'em peeled, pikeys see the Nevill as a gold mine

So you;re ignorant as well as a bigot, Daily Mail Reader. Did you read this?
'A gardener is thought to have made legal history after being convicted of racially aggravated harassment for using the word 'pikey'.
Lee Coleman repeatedly used the term, a derogatory reference to gypsies and Travellers, in a drunken outburst over a nightclub entry fee.
He was arrested after hurling abuse at a manageress and punching a bouncer at the club.
The 28-year-old denied the charges at first before pleading guilty.
He told the manageress, who had asked him to pay the £3.50 fee to enter Bugatti's in Crowborough, East Sussex, in March to 'p*** off', magistrates in Lewes heard.
Prosecutor Simon Allen claimed Coleman had said: 'I'm not paying you, you pikey.' When told to leave he added: 'She is a pikey, she has nicked my mate's jacket.'
Coleman, of Crowborough, was given a 12-month community order and told to do 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the doorman and £100 court costs.'

Please do not mention Gypsies and Irish Travellers in the same sentence, they are two separate peoples. One fairly good (most of the time) the other horrible people that would steal from anyone and with little idea of decency.

Trailer boy is correct of course. Irish Travellers are Pikeys, Gypsies are Gyppos, there's a world of difference.

Totally agree trailor boy. I was just pointing out that in the eyes of the law, both "groups" are classed as ethnic minorities and are a race. They are therefore not allowed to be called the "P" word by law.

"Get it right" This forum was given a warning several months ago about using these words on a public forum. I know from another forum i belong to that it got close to shutting the forum down and peoples IP's being taken by the old bill and prosecutions started for this. Please don't get me wrong, i use the word frequently with my mates and despise them too but the word is legally rascist.

Well it was a tenuous reference to an old Fawlty Towers sketch more than anything (Where the Colonel has taken his wife to watch England play Pakistan at cricket) but if the busies take it that seriously I shall refrain from making such jokes again in future.
