Citizens of Lewes! I need your help. Just witnessed a group of young boys (can't have been more than 13 years old) from Priory School going along The Course (near St Pancras Stores) banging on all the house's windows and doors/ringing the doorbells. Over-excited kids/no real harm done you may all scream at me but I saw that at least one resident was an elderly gentleman who had found it frightening and menacing. Because they meandered, not ran, away and then hung around outside the shop I took the opportunity to shout loudly at them as I was so furious at them.
From what I hear Priory School has probably got bigger problems than a group of teenagers banging on doors. I could try and found out their names and tell the headteacher but is there any point? I'm sure I'll calm down and get a grip eventually but I know how frightening, if not then just annoying it can be to put up with this if you live on a school route. What should I do if I (inevitably) see them again?

Yes - in my experience the school are pretty good at dealing with stuff like this. If you see them at it again take photos on your phone or the like.

I should add that the problem with confronting the kids directly is that their bloody self-righteous parents end up being more of a pain than the kids themselves.

For heavens sake do not take photos of them, you'll be accused of all sorts. Phone or email the school and speak to them, the head teacher has been excellent in the past with "out of school" goings on !!! Good luck.

They were probably all stoned out their brains. I gather 12 year olds at Priory are smoking dope and very little indeed is being done by the esteemed headmaster.

Any concrete proof of that A.N other ? might be worth speaking to the local constabulary to see if they'll do a random drugs search with some dogs.

The school has been informed on many occasions of this issue and the school does have a police liaison officer.
Joint roaches are regular found by the younger pupils on their "clean up" duties.
The sooner the new Head starts the better. We might then see a genuine change in attitude to this ongoing problem.

If you want proof, you only have to walk past the changing rooms at the Rooks ground in the morning. The stench of the dope being smoked before they go to school is incredible.

Kids were smoking dope at Priory when I was there, 15 years ago, it's nothing new. There sed to be a big drugs bust pretty much once a year which tended to calm things down for a few months but so long as there are kids with parents who don't care if they smoke weed (Mainly the former Steiner School kids in my day), there will be drugs at Priory. There were kids smoking weed at Ringmer at the time too for the record, and the Old Grammar, it's far from being exclusively Priory's thing.
As for the ones knocking on doors, ring the school, they're actually pretty good at dealing with stuff like that.

I have to say that I was 16 before I started smoking at school, and that was Resin, Red Leb etc. these days it's 12 year olds with Skunk - far more dangerous - psychoactively on a young brain.

The weed is stronger but that's counter-acted by the pills and coke being much, much weaker.

A good description given to the school will likely result in disciplining. Teachers are very good at recognising the pupils they see and deal with every day. They will know the situation regarding their behaviour - if it is one off or part of a pattern of behaviour in which case this will add weight to any ongoing observation. I am sure they would be glad of the information and they will probably take action..

It was a joke dude.
I'm not saying it's a good idea for 12 year olds to be taking drugs, I'm saying that it's not a new thing. There were kids who smoked weed when I was at lower school so they would have been 12 then. There weren't many but there were some. Likewise I'm sure there are very few 12 year olds toking reefer at Priory now but there will be some and no matter how hard they try the staff will never completely eradicate the problem. It's not Priory-specific though and not something that decent parents who wouldn't let their kids get away with that kind of thing should worry overly about.

We all knew the odd ones who indulged but we also knew they were just showing off just as kids do nowadays. I blame over exposure to through tv, film internet, music lyrics etc. Basically, we and our children of today, are exposed to it every time we turn on the tv so it somehow becomes 'the norm'.
I hate how society has become.
