Just had a dreadful experience in this so called cafe. Soup was cold, second part of friend's order arrived way too late, so myself, partner and friend decided to leave and pay minus the "poached eggs". The female proprietor was extremely defensive, rude and could not see it was their shoddy and tardy service that was the problem. She almost forgot my partner's toasty. We had to wait for cutlery after the soup was served and whilst the young chap chatted on to his ?mum. Unacceptable.
This was my 3rd and last time in this establishment. The other 2 times were OK I suppose, but the service is a bit random to say the least. Won't be going there again.
Anyone else had similar experiences?

One thing I have noticed is the incredibly quick turnover of staff there. That's always a bad sign.

Last time I looked it was for sale.
But we too have had tardy and sloppy service in there, although the food, when it comes, is good. Coffee seriously overpriced as well.
I'd go to the cafe in the antiques place on south street - it's lovely and friendly.
And the tea room behind the ice cream place on school hill is very pleasant, not at all trendy, well priced and very popular with oaps
