Seen Clips of The Crown Hotel on The Hotel Inspector a Channel 5 programme originally presented by Ruth Watson but now Alex polizanni or something similar. I think she was quoted as saying it was the WORST hotel room she had ever stayed in. Any body know any more about the filming and whats happened since etc? The programme is on Monday evening for anyone interested.

I have just looked up a review of the forthcoming show. They are quite clearly trying to sell the new series but how close is to the real truth?
"New series of the show that transforms failing hotels across the UK. No-nonsense hotelier Alex Polizzi comes face to face with one of the worst establishments she has ever visited - the Crown Inn in Lewes. After a string of terrible internet reviews and the loss of a precious star in the Visit England ratings, can Alex restore this filthy guesthouse to its former glory?"

Here is another review.
Monday July 6th. 9.00pm,Channel 5.
Crown Inn New series. Alex Polizzi returns to reverse the fortunes of failing hotels and B&Bs around Britain, beginning at the Crown Inn in Lewes, East Sussex. As well as being stripped of one of its three stars by the tourist board, it has received a succession of scathing internet reviews, and owner Karen Lloyd has lost more than £32,000. After spending a night in the establishment, Alex sends in the deep cleaners, renovates the bedrooms and reorganises the staff in a bid to transform the hotel's reputation.
I love the programme. I am not too fussy but find it really annoying when rooms are below standard. A chalet I was recently in had no shower(therefore making hair washing almost impossible),no lights on the bedside
tables, and no full length mirror.Small but important points I felt.
But it was extremely clean and very well kitted out.

I saw the programme, cannot believe this hotel was given back its original star rating!
No amount of stars would encourage me to want to stay there!
Karen should have had to wait another year to show that the hotel really was on the up!Anyone could try harder for a programme, but i wasn't convinced,so why was the tourist board guy so gullible?Time will tell....

Someone should do something about the curtains in the big front window on the 1st floor. They were badly pulled and it doesn't look very nice from the outside...
