This year The Lewes Speakers Festival (www.lewesspeakersfestival) has a very strong programme and amongst others: Paddy Ashdown brings the story of a Special Forces raid in World War Two; Nigel Lawson, Former Chancellor of the Exchequer, casts a sceptical eye over climate change ‘mania’; and Kate Mosse talks about the conclusive chapter of her best-selling Labyrinth series in ‘Citadel’. Jane McAdam Freud, daughter of Lucian and granddaughter of Sigmund, discusses her reconnection with her father through art. William Dalrymple reveals Britain’s little known involvement in Afghanistan in the 1800's; Mary Fullbrook tells us of her investigation into the day to day lives of Nazi soldiers in World War II; Adam Boulton, Political Editor of Sky News, discusses his meetings with every Prime Minister from David Cameron to Alec Douglas Holme; and Gavin Hewett, BBC Europe Correspondent, looks at problems facing the continent
